My Breastfeeding Story

World breastfeeding week is celebrated in more than 120 countries including India to encourage moms to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months of the kids life, this has tremendous health benefits for the baby and the mom.

So here I am sharing my breastfeeding story with you……

Before Renny was born I was really excited for breastfeeding, I was expecting my first child and thus attended ‘Pregnancy Classes’ by Dr Riddhi Chandarana who explained everything about Breastfeeding including the process and the anatomical things(Which I was really interested in) so your breastmilk flows in after your placenta is detached from the body after babys birth.

So what happened with me?

I had a C Section and before it happened, I was not allowed to eat or drink anything for almost 8 hours. The nurses were saying that the milk was flowing in but it was very difficult for me to nurse Renny on the first day. We had to give her external Lactogen powder.

Second day?

Second day the milk was not flowing in and my nipples were really sore and paining a lot. Milk directly depends on what you eat, as I had a c sec fast this happened to me. Breastfeeding is difficult for the first week or so(No one tells you this) because breast is also a muscle and they have never really been through the whole milk and the baby process mommies! Please do see this video to get more info.

Third Day?

I started having Satavrex. This is like a magic potion for all lactating moms, I would really swear by this product and is a must for all lactating moms for the first 6 months of your babies life for exclusive breastfeeding. Besides this having 2 cups of tetra pack milk and eating a lot of healthy, homecooked food helped.

I was a happy breastfeeding my daughter and my special bond with her really increased.

Why this info about Breastfeeding?

Breast milk is rich in nutrients. It has antibodies, which help protect your baby against infections. It also helps prevent your baby from having allergies. Babies who are breastfed are less likely to become overweight, develop diabetes, or get childhood leukemia later in life.

Why should i Breastfeed?

I urge all you moms to exclusively breastfeed your kids for the first 6 months of your kids life. Breastfeeding also has benefits for you. It’s clean and simple– you don’t have to wash bottles or mix formula. It’s cheaper than using formula. It helps your uterus contract back to normal size after having been stretched during pregnancy. It delays the return of your periods (although you shouldn’t count on it to prevent pregnancy). And it helps make time for you to be close to your baby. Women who breastfeed also have lower risks of type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
