New Year’s Eve looks a whole lot different once you have kids, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a fun night. Here are five ideas for a New Year’s celebration that the whole family can enjoy.
- Watch home videos
Gather all those home videos you’ve filmed since the kids were born––especially from the past year—and watch them together on December 31. Enjoy a family meal in between viewings and share your favourite memories from the past year.
- Try a new type of food for dinner
India is such a vast country, I am sure you and your kid must not have tried the ‘Thupka’ from Tibet or ‘Momos’ or this also might be the right time to introduce your grandma’s recipe and cook a feast for the entire family.
- Pretend Play with Kids
When I was a kid ‘pretend play’ activities or time was the best time that I had, either with my friends or cousins. So why not turn this new year’s eve into a Harry Potter themed fun or A Peppa Pig party!
- Invite another family over
Haven’t met your BFF for over a year and your plans keep on getting postponed? This might be the right time to invite her over with the kiddo and have a mommy special new years/slumber party.
- Turn your Christmas tree into a “Resolution tree”
Putting away the Christmas decorations can be a bittersweet activity. Instead of taking down all of the decorations, just take down the ornaments. Have kids write down resolutions like eating healthier or getting good grades and tie these to the tree. Now your Christmas tree is a Resolution tree!
I Hope this sorts out your Christmas with your kid and even turns into a memorable one!
Happy New Year!
